BioBuzz and ScienceWerx Establish Strategic Technology Partnership

BALTIMORE, MD, October 14, 2024 – BioBuzz Networks, Inc. and ScienceWerx, Inc., a 501c(3) nonprofit organization based in Frederick, MD, have entered into a strategic technology partnership. Through this new partnership, ScienceWerx will lead the technology development of BioBuzz’s AI-powered life science community platform and talent marketplace. The companies will also be working together to deploy their collective expertise to support regional economic and workforce development initiatives within emerging innovation ecosystems.

ScienceWerx is a non-profit with a unique venture accelerator model that includes an ecosystem of resources that reduce the friction of bringing new products to market; including access to capital, technology transfer, IP, technology development, and a network of industry experts all aligned with efficient commercialization in mind.

Under this new partnership, ScienceWerx will support the commercialization of the BioBuzz platform with their technology development services to expedite the commercial launch of the new BioBuzz platform. BioBuzz will provide ScienceWerx’s portfolio of companies with premium access to their hiring and PR solutions to help them scale more efficiently. BioBuzz will also help connect ScienceWerx with new startups and technologies that could benefit from their technology commercialization and support services.

“The foundation of this partnership is rooted in our shared mission to solve problems that help to advance commercialization and get products to patients faster,” said Chris Frew, BioBuzz Networks’ CEO. “From day one, the ScienceWerx team truly got our vision which solidified my confidence that they were the right partner for developing our technology and facilitating our vision of a global network of life science communities. One that better connects life science professionals to employers and enables an on-demand workforce model through our proprietary ‘talent logistics’ model.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with BioBuzz on such an impactful project. At ScienceWerx, we understand the challenges companies face when moving from concept to commercialization, and we’re committed to providing the right technology development solutions to bridge those gaps. This collaboration is an exciting opportunity to help BioBuzz’s vision for an AI-powered life science community platform become a reality, and we’re looking forward to seeing the tremendous benefits it will bring to the workforce and innovation ecosystems across the US and worldwide,” said Patrick Haley, Co-Founder, ScienceWerx.

This March BioBuzz launched the prototype of its two-sided life science talent marketplace to enhance their existing community platform to help employers source and hire life science talent – starting with fractional, freelance, and contingent hiring solutions.

BioBuzz is actively raising a seed round that they intend to close by the end of the year to prepare for a commercial launch of their comprehensive platform in late Q1 2025. The company already operates hubs in three markets, the BioHealth Capital Region (Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia), Greater Philadelphia, and North Carolina (Research Triangle), and has a community of more than 30,000 life science professionals and employers.

The marketplace hiring model continues to capture market share from traditional staffing models and has proven very successful within other industries such as healthcare (ShiftKey), IT (TopTal), Marketing (MarketerHire), and general freelance (Upwork, Freelancer), but no market leader has emerged in life sciences which is striking given that 92% of life science employers use contingent workforce.

ScienceWerx served as the perfect partner for BioBuzz to build a platform that promises to have considerable impact on the life science industry and innovation ecosystems worldwide.
